Round lake Victoria

Round lake Victoria

“An adventure around Lake Victoria – the life source of East Africa and one of the largest lakes in the world. With an area of 69,484 km², it’s nearly as big as the combined size of the Netherlands and Belgium. Discover this natural wonder by motorcycle. Our journey starts and ends at our base in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. You will fly to Entebbe airport, where KLM and Brussels Airlines offer direct flights. From the airport, it’s only a one hour drive to our base.

We drive in a clockwise direction and cross the Nile, which here in Jinja becomes the White Nile. This river, which flows through Uganda and eventually joins the Blue Nile at Khartoum, is a source of life for more than 443 million people in 11 countries. The Nile basin covers almost 3 million km2 and is a tenth of the total area of Africa.

Next, we visit beautiful Kenya, where we ride along the shores of Lake Victoria for a few days and then turn towards the well-known Masai Mara park. Here, we exchange our motorcycles for safari jeeps and experience the breathtaking nature with its diverse flora and fauna.

In Tanzania, we once again visit Lake Victoria and even sail on it for a while. Here, we enjoy the relaxed atmosphere for which Tanzania is known.

Our next stop is Rwanda, a small country full of culture, history and development. The difference with other African countries is clear as soon as we enter Rwanda: paved roads, traffic signs, and people who follow the rules, and beautiful green nature with volcanic landscapes. We stay for a day in Kigali and visit the genocide museum and the famous ‘Hôtel des Mille Collines’ from the movie ‘Hotel Rwanda’.

Finally, we discover the beautiful Uganda, also known as the “Pearl of Africa”. This country offers its visitors a unique travel experience with an enormous diversity. With ten national parks and sixty different tribes, Uganda is a paradise for motorcyclists, as it is one of the few African countries where you can ride a motorcycle through the parks.

Our journey takes us through several spectacular parks, including Murchison Falls National Park, known for the Murchison Falls and the variety of wildlife, such as Rothschild giraffes, Nile crocodiles, leopards, elephants, buffalo, lions and various species of antelope and birds. Other highlights are Kibale Forest National Park, known for its chimpanzees and other wildlife, the Rwenzori Mountains, which contain the highest mountain in the country and the source of water for 3% of the population, Queen Elizabeth National Park, the most wild park in Uganda with numerous types of wildlife, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where approximately 340 mountain gorillas can still be found.

This trip is only available in the months of December, January, and February, due to the long rainy season in Uganda and other parts of Africa. Our guides and motorcyclists prefer to ride outside of the rainy season.

Let yourself be tempted by the beauty and diversity of Uganda and book your adventure now!”
